I just wanted to say this morning I have had tears my hand is so painful and swollen I am hot and cold and I feel so sad.
Or is it sorry for myself? To tell you makes it feel better.
My little lad (9) has gone to loook around his next school but i cant go because the tour is fast and furious and involves a lot of stairs.
I hate that you cant do normal things like this

Oh Melanie, it's no wonder you feel sad!
You must feel terrible that you are not able to go with your son to look round his new school.
I bet any other day you would have coped much better with your painful hand but it's probably too much for you, on top of your disappointment.
Sending you lots of hugs. I hope your son likes what he sees and is able to tell you all about it when he gets home.
Hope you feel better soon.

Love, Doreen xx

Hi Mel,

Sorry you're having such a bad day.

Could you speak to the school and explain your situation with a view to having an opportunity to look around on another occassion? I'm sure they would be able to accomodate a request like that given the circumstances.

Give yourself the rest of the day off ... sit back and relax and no, you're not just feeling sorry for yourself!

x x

So sorry to read that your hands hurt.

a soak in hot (well as hot as you can bear) water always help me. You can put some essential oils in there too- someone made me some up once for inflammation.

I know what you mean re wanting to do the same as everyone else. It isnt fair.

Much love

Sorry you had to miss the school tour, Melanie, no wonder you're disappointed. As Joanna says, I'm sure they would let you look round another time.

Hope you feel better soon.

No wonder you feel so sad, Melanie. Hope you can arrange a visit for another time when they don't rush you and that your son is happy with the new school.

It is very hard when you are excluded to an extent from such an important occasion. As the others have said you can ask for a special tour of the school later and you can also focus on what your son thinks about what he has seen of the school from an objective stand point. Make him feel that you are part of it by asking him to tell you the pros and cons of the school which you can then discuss with a view to eg what he may need in equipment and so on.

Sad for you,

Eleanor x

It's such a rotten thing this stupid RA, it's horrible that you couldn't go today, I really feel for you Mel and hope that it can be arranged for you to see everything there. Take care. Glenys x

I have to agree- I'm sure the school could arrange a look round for you. And why shouldn't you have a cry---I'm sure we all do, with this b&%%£^$*g disease.
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi Melanie, just wanted to say I agree with what everyone has already said. You shouldnt feel bad about crying and feeling down, you need to let your feelings out. I hope your son enjoys his tour, and that you can join him on a vist when you feel better, and definitely at a slower pace. I remember doing it for my 4, its a very tiring tour, and I was well then!! Take care of your self, thinking of you x

Hi Melanie

Without making excuses for the old RA sometimes I find it helps to just accept that things happen for a reason. Often not always easy at the time but as Eleanor said what a fantastic opportunity for you to get your son's perspective on the school. His thoughts will not be tainted by your own views which sometimes can be without us realising it.

All schools are currently trying to encourage more parental involvement in school life and I'm sure they would welcome the opportunity to show you round and answer your questions on another occasion. It would be very short sighted of them not to do so as education is very competitive these days and they all want 'bums' on seats at the end of the day. Empty seats cost the schools money!

It also gives you a 'one to one' opportunity rather than going round as a group; your own personal tour and question time. What an opportunity! Good luck, hope it goes well for you and your son.

You all made me feelso much better. My son liked his school a lot and we hope that he will go.
It is a very good school and my dausghter started in September, that is why I did not go to see it as my experience with her
was rather embarrasing. I just could not keep up with everyone and in the end Imy hip also gave up so I went and sat in reception!!
I did not want to repeat it.
Love Melanie
